It’s Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day - May 17, 2007

I’m contemplating buying a multi-ticket train pass to jumpstart a train/bike combo commute starting today. It’s Bike to Work Day* after all. I used to ride the train and my bike to work daily. It kept me in good shape.

*The above-referenced site was designed by me for the non-profit bicycle org, by the way. I created a full WP theme for it.

Bike To Work Day

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Today was the Bay Area’s Bike To Work Day. I should know – I just recently designed SVBC’s* two blogs.

So did I bike to work today? Sadly no. But I did bike to the convenience store from work to get myself a snack. I hope that counts. This is what I used, my trusty old folding bike:

Folding Bike

Since we became a two-car household, I’m no longer “forced” to commute by bus, train and bike to and from work. But in order to get myself a little exercise now and then, especially that it’s warmer, I thought of lugging around my folding bike in whatever vehicle I’m driving, then use my bike on trips to nearby places to eat during lunchtime. It’s less distance than I’m used to but I’ll take whatever physical activity I can get. I’m still carrying my winter fat. *sigh*

*yup, the top-level domain site needs work. Its redesign is soon coming down the pipeline.

Bus Wi-Fi, Now A Reality

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Last January, I posted an entry from a parked bus. Internet access came from a hotspot outside the bus. Well, according to this, buses in our area will soon get wi-fi access from within. The East Bay transit agency wants “professionals, those with laptops, traveling through the Bay to have better use of their time, rather than looking at traffic.” Pretty cool, eh? One other thing they should provide, however, is a good supply of Dramamine in each of the buses’ first-aid kits.

Bus Wi-Fi

Friday, January 28th, 2005

I’m posting this from an Amtrak bus parked in front of the train station just for the heck of it. Or as they would say in ‘pinas, “‘La lang.”

Update: oh, just to clarify, online access was made available from an unsecured hotspot outside the bus.

Choo-choo Wi-Fi

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

Now this is what I’m talking about. Free wi-fi on the train. This particular line runs through our city to Santa Clara where I work. This may just convince me to take the train to work again.
