Apple’s New Data Center

There was confusion at Digg.com a couple of days ago whether the new data center that Apple bought recently is in Newark, NJ or Newark, CA. It turns out it’s in Newark, CA.

Someone provided a Google map link to the place so like a dork, I headed out there yesterday and took some pictures. It’s only a couple of exits away from where I live.

data center, newark, ca

data center, newark, ca

data center, newark, ca

data center, newark, ca

I’m not exactly sure if these are the buildings that Apple bought but the entire business park is a ghost town of vacant buildings save for a couple of occupied ones.

You from around Newark? I live just a couple of miles away (over on the side of town by Coyote Hills) and was thinking about going down and doing the same. I figured nobody would really care though.

Yeah, I thought the same but I thought some Diggsters would dig it. :)

I live in Fremont. My exit’s at Thornton.
