iMac with AMD Inside

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

In honor of Apple’s announcement yesterday of Intel-powered Macs at Macworld, I post here this photo I took in 1999 in San Francisco.

Athlon-powered iMac

A new Apple ad was being painted over an AMD ad making it look like a billboard for an Athlon-powered iMac. Here’s a photo from a slightly different angle.

Update: I’m also adding this photo to the Silicon Valley Tourist gallery to welcome Intel to the Mac fold.

Update 2: When adding the Intel pic, I inadvertently caused some pictures (Adobe, Woz) to disappear. They’re back up. For Apple pictures go here. I just now need photos of Google.

Mel Gibson in Apocalypto trailer
Here’s Mel Gibson, acting more like Mel Brooks, in a one-framer he inserts into the trailer of his new movie, Apocalypto.

Parent Hacks

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

Parent Hacks is a two-month old collaborative weblog for parents of kids 0-18+ years old. I wish it was around the past eight years. I could’ve benefitted from some of its practical parenting tips when our kids were babies/toddlers (well, one of them still is). I have a few “hacks” I could’ve contributed as well, if I still remember any of them. I just remember winging many things and finding, to my surprise, that they work. I’m still learning anyway. The site will be beneficial to me and the wife in the next, oh, 16+ years.
