Philippine History

Yahoo! reports that searches on Philippine history are up a whopping 509% over the week. All other regional history searches have decreased. Does anybody know why?

    My referrer log shows more people than usual searching for “spanish american war” and “iraq.” Perhaps history-oriented types are looking into Philippine history for parallelisms between the US colonial situation back then and the Iraq issue today?

    You may have something there. Those two search terms together brought back 231,000 results in Google. Hmmm, will Iraq overtake the Philippines as no. 1 exporter of human labor 100 years from now? (of course, I kid. Iraq has oil man!)

    That’s an interesting observation from Yahoo, and Paulo’s theory sounds about right.
