Nasty Tumble
I had a nasty spill en route to work on my bike this morning. It’s quite embarrassing to reveal the reason behind my fall.
Well, ok, bees.
All two of them.
Or maybe it was just one.
But he was fast.
I tried to outrun him but he was hot on my trail. I panicked and lost control of my bike. Next thing I knew I was flat on my face with my bike underneath me. I have a nasty scrape on my left forearm, my left palm is bruised up, my right knee is cut, my left thigh is throbbing and my rib cage hurts.
Funny thing is just moments before I was pondering how a coin-operated newspaper rack near my work has remained devoid of newspapers for several weeks now because a swarm of wasps has taken it over. I guess that just heightened my fear when I saw the bee go after me.

The best thing to do when a bee is hot on your trail is to stay still. At least, that’s what I’d always been told by my beekeeper father. But of course, when you’re on a bike, keeping still generally isn’t a very good option. If you’d done that you would have still landed on your face.

Hehe. As I’m nursing my bruises and cuts five days after my fall, I think it would have been better to have been stung by the bee (the ER doctor says that it’ll take more than a couple of weeks for my rib bruise to heal up). But then again, I haven’t been stung before so I don’t know what my body’s reaction would be.

Did you doctor indicate how many weeks? I injured myself in a fall 4 weeks ago and still having trouble.
