Those bloody Brits, they got us:
Microsoft Corp. said a company news release that it was developing a portable toilet with Internet access, called an “iLoo,” was a hoax perpetrated by its British division.
But then:
“MSN is really working on building a prototype for the Summer festivals, perhaps Glastonbury … This is very much a ‘toe in the water’ experiment to gauge interest so we’ll have to see how it goes, although judging from response so far it’s really captured people’s imagination!”
[Update: I knew it. This was not a hoax after all. But the project's dead in the (toilet) water says Microsoft.]
Having seen the new trailer for The Hulk, I have this to say: the mean, green guy looked, well, fake. Did the guys at Universal Studios do a bad job of recreating a computer-generated Hulk or are we as an audience jaded by too much CG in movies? I’m sure after having been inundated for several years by computer special effects in movies (even non-fantasy ones), we are much more discerning of elements on the screen that are “real” or not. That means movie companies need to be less concerned with using the latest CG effects to “wow” us and concentrate more on studying what achieves realism on celluloid. But then again, we’re talking about a comic book character here, aren’t we? Well, in the case of the Hulk, they could’ve shot a regular-sized muscle man, super-sized him, then super-imposed him onto the movie scene. I’m sure they have the technology for that.
[spoiler, somewhat]
Saw X-Men 2 yesterday. In the Cerebro scene where Prof. X shows Wolverine where all the mutants in the world are, the Philippines is projected right behind Wolverine’s head and a mutant is shown hailing from Luzon. Wow, I wonder what kind of super-powers this pinoy mutant has. Maybe the guys from Komikero know.
