Apple Store San Francisco

Wednesday, March 5th, 2003

According to this San Francisco Business Times article, Apple is opening its fourth Bay Area store in Union Square. I’m surprised that Union Square is described as “blighted.” Apparently the upscale S.F. shopping area has lost a few tenants such as Prada, Bally, Planet Hollywood and a “soon-to-be-departed” FAO Schwartz.

Update: when I wrote this entry there were only three other Apple Stores in the Bay Area. Two others have opened up since: the Walnut Creek store and the Burlingame store. This makes the San Francisco store, which will open in 2004, effectively the sixth Apple Store in the Bay Area.

Update 2 (11.02.2003): okay, I should quit figuring what number the San Francisco Apple Store would be. An Apple Store just opened up in Corte Madera which makes it the sixth Apple Store in the Bay Area. The S.F. Apple Store in the meantime is still under construction.

Our High Priest

Tuesday, March 4th, 2003

Filipino Roman Catholics can no longer confess “their sins via e-mail, fax and mobile phone text messages*”.

I’m just glad we have a High Priest to whom we can confess our sins directly. There’s no need for human or electronic mediators. Now that’s true wireless.

*this Yahoo! news item is no longer archived but I found a couple of related articles.

PC IE Funkiness

Tuesday, March 4th, 2003

I checked my blog page in Internet Explorer on a PC the other day and to my horror, none of the images were appearing! Even the CSS specifications weren’t showing. I checked my page in Netscape and everything was fine. All the Mac browsers render my page just fine. Apparently, IE for the PC doesn’t resolve server-rooted paths so I changed everything to relative paths. That solved the problem. So everything should appear ok now. I’m just horrified that my page had looked funky for so long to IE PC users, who unfortunately comprise the majority of internet users. Yikes.
