I recently visited billygraham.org. Wow, it’s a handsome site. It’ll make this guy proud. I know, I know, technically it’s not a church but hey, it’s ministry-related. What I’ve noticed lately is many Christian organizations have updated their sites to look more “professional.” Ones that come to mind are:
- Christian Research Institute
- Enduring Truth Ministries
- Ravi Zacharias Ministries (former home was http://www.gospelcom.net/rzim)
If you don’t think these are particularly impressive, you should have seen how they looked like before. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?), Google’s cache feature doesn’t hold the old versions of these sites any longer.
I wonder what has spawned this “revival” of Christian sites? Is it because of the efforts of HealYourChurchWebsite? It may be indeed, but I have another theory. The dotcom bust has produced a great number of unemployed web designers. Some of these displaced designers had time for introspection and soul searching. Some may have gone back to the faith they once knew. In any case, since at this point there was a glut of church sites that have committed the Seven Deadly Sins of Web Design, an opportunity had presented itself. These “renewed” designers saw an opportunity to do something benevolent. I suspect many of them approached non-profit organizations to offer their services. It’s a great way to prevent web skills from atrophying too, I suppose.
The above scenario mirrors mine, actually. The year 2002 opened with me being without a steady job. Although I never left the faith and was already quite active in church, I did have a lot of time in my hands. I spent time with some folks from church planning and creating our site. It is still a work-in-progress but thanks to the efforts of sites like billygraham.org (which provided material for the Gospel section) and HealYourChurchWebsite.com, creating a Christian online presence has never been easier.

On of the most important things in life is to meet Billy Gram, He is very inspirational to me and I woulld love to see him. My wife and I watch his messages every Saturday night and any other time that we can catch it on cable tv. dear billy graham, i would like to ask for a prayer for my pastor rick mikalinos at glenwood baptist church in deerpark, texas. he has been diagnoised with lukiemia, and he is very ill in the methodist hospital, in houston, texas. our church members pray everyday at 9:00 a.m. asking God if it’s his will that he up lift this cancer and place it into remission, so that he may continue his gospel at the humble church that God granted him to build up to win over souls. our church is very humble and with much love one to the other. please pray for us billy graham. Can anyone help me in any way? I am trying to locate Dr. Ed Murphy, author of The Handbook for Spiritual Warfare. He was supposed to be a professor at San Jose Christian College, but isn’t. He was supposed to be VP of Overseas Crusades but isn’t. Now I’m told he is connected with the Billy Graham Ministries. Does anyone know anything about this man of God? Is he even real or just a ghost author?
